Why Join the Fond du Lac Evening Optimist Club?
All Optimist Clubs are committed to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids”. We all want to create a more optimistic future for our youth through our community service programs. The Fond du Lac Evening Optimist Club is affiliated with Optimist International or OI. Each local Club is autonomous but follows the Optimist Creed and OI guidelines. As Optimist International states, as a member you will receive:
· The fellowship of proactive people with optimistic mindsets
· New social and working relationships with individuals from a cross section of our communities
· The opportunity to develop and demonstrate leadership skills locally, regionally, nationally and internationally
· The satisfaction of making a difference in our communities.
When do we meet?
The Fond du Lac Evening Optimist Club members meet every second and fourth Wednesday at 6:30pm. Meeting location rotates between local restaurants and our new Fair Stand on the grounds of the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds.
How much does it cost?
First year of membership fees are paid by the club. In year two and beyond, annual membership is $80.
What do I do as a member?
Members attend club meetings and volunteer time during major fundraising events including making and selling food at our Fond du Lac County Fair Stand and Father’s Day Car Show. Other smaller fundraising events include brat fries, meat raffles, and driving courtesy carts at Walleye Weekend. We also volunteer at activities for our donation recipients. Club meeting attendance is not mandatory twice a month but highly encouraged in order to stay updated on what is happening plus you learn from various community speakers at the meetings.
